The spaceborne Quantar Nation holds sway over some five single or multiple star systems, though none of these hold planetary colonies. This equates to Quantar having a clear mandate over five sectors within the Skein, though a militant Path of religious zealots is calling into question Quantar's control over at least one.
Resting in the Skein between the Central Axis and the Quantar Interior, the Quantar Core region is made up of the mining bases in Tengassil Trench, and the citadel sector of Quantar Core itself. Tengassil's dramatic contact-asteroid fields have been heavily mined for decades, but despite the presence of a major space station that houses the miners and serves as a transit point for ore and equipment, the sector is still a backwater. Quantar Core sector holds the Quantar Nation's chief space habitat complex, numerous asteroid bases, and some thirty percent or more of the Quantar population.

Tengassil Trench is remarkable for two lenticular contact-asteroid assemblages near the sector's gravitic anomalies (one anomaly has been harnessed for the Jumpgate link to Quantar Core). Gravitic wave harmonics have been put forward as a possible explanation for the unusual configuration of solid matter. Other theories suggest planetary-scale engineering performed long ago by Amananth or another highly technical civilization. Regardless of their origins, the asteroid clusters have been extensively mined for resources, with Tengassil Station constructed as a mining base in one of the largest rocks.
The Tengassil Trench is lit by an extremely bright and nearby giant star, making for a harsh radiation environment. Fortunately, the worst of the radiation is blocked by a dense planetesimal debris field, but there is still significant ultraviolet backscatter. The asteroids of the Trench itself continue to provide some protection from the radiation for the continuing mining operations, so much so that the Quantar Nation is reportedly considering a massive project to seal the entire disk as a tremendous colony habitat. However, a recent incursion by the 9th Legion, a renegade Octavian military force, has made the sector hazardous to visit. At present Tengassil Trench is designated an amber travel zone and due caution should be exercised by travelers.

Focal point for the spacefaring Quantar Nation, the Quantar Core habitat complex orbits within a dense asteroid field in Quantar Core sector. The inner system of the local yellow star is rife with gas and dust, shifting the reflected spectrum that reaches the space around the complex well into green visible wavelengths. Just outside the outer of the system's two asteroid belts orbits an uninhabited garden world, which the Quantar have named "Lilith". Quantar philosophy and policy has eschewed the use of planetary bodies since the Shift, preferring the distributed and potentially independent spacegoing habitats. The population of the Core complex largely ignores the presence of this potential jewel of a world, concentrating on exploiting the asteroid fields for resources and as habitat space. Mining, industry, and habitation all takes place within the asteroid fields and artificial habitats, reserving the rare planetary expeditions on Lilith for education, research, and religious purposes.

The garden world Lilith in Quantar Core sector has no permanent residents nor colonial infrastructure. Policy and practice among the Paths is to maintain an entirely spaceborne society free from reliance on planetary bodies, which are considered restrictive. Lilith orbits in close reach and full view of the major Quantar citadel at Quantar Core, simultaneously symbolizing both temptation and the ways of the past to the Quantar people, who consider themselves to have ascended beyond the need for a planetbound existence.
Lilith's gravity is within human preferred norms, and its nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere is extremely favorable. There is an abundant and active native biosphere. Studies performed in PS 82 by the Imperial Academy on Ares Prime suggest that trace atmospheric toxins could be easily purged by a terraforming regime well within present technical capability. Quantar's continued refusal of proposals by both the Octavian Empire and the Solrain Commonwealth to lease territory on Lilith's surface or otherwise exploit the planet have become a major point of contention among the nations, given the rarity of habitable worlds within the Skein.
Planetary expeditions to Lilith do take place infrequently. Several research institutes maintain programs that involve planetside observations, and educational bodies serving several major Paths send students to the surface. Some of the Quantar Paths incorporate visits to Lilith as part of religious initiations, supposedly including rituals requiring unassisted breathing of the slightly toxic atmosphere for several minutes. Aside from these closely regulated uses of the planet by small numbers of Quantar, Lilith has otherwise been kept entirely pristine.

Three inhabited sectors in Quantar space constitute the Quantar Interior: Lythia, home of the Parallax Path, Auraria, main base of Void Storm, and the bleak Pit of Lardonis. The harmonious industry of these sectors has lately been disrupted by the militant Hamalzah'din, who have evicted other Quantar from the Pit of Lardonis and claimed it as their own. None among the Quantar seem willing to use the term "civil war", but outside observers believe the intransigent position of the Hamalzah'din makes such a description inevitable.

Quantar originally hesitated to colonize Lythia sector due to the presence of abundant remnants of an earlier civilization. When this reluctance was eventually overcome, the Quantar chose to leave all artifacts untouched and respectfully blended their own architecture with the existing ruins. The Ring View orbital complex serves as Lythia's chief port of call and waystation.
Built into an asteroid as is typical of Quantar space construction, the complex orbits a spectacular blue gas world and affords easy access to rich mineral resources in the surrounding asteroid fields. Militant Hamalzah'din raiders operate from bases among the asteroids, but the sector is well-patrolled by Quantar forces and there is little threat to travel or commerce.

Lythia sector is the location of the Ring View Complex, one of three major population centers in Quantar space. This artificial structure consists of numerous habitat, industrial, and hydroponics modules centered on a port facility all in distant orbit around a huge blue gas giant.
Quantar treated Lythia sector with great caution after the first TRI-built gate linked this sector to Quantar Core in PS 43. Clear evidence of past habitation by some ancient civilization made the Quantar reluctant to intrude. After a decade of careful research and meditation it was decided to proceed with colonization of the area, but only in unobtrusive harmony with the visible artifacts of the predecessors. Ring View Complex is now home to some twenty percent of the Quantar population, scattered among asteroid and artificial habitats near the central station. The complex is also the center for Parallax, a major Quantar Path that espouses tolerance and greater cooperation with other human survivors of the Shift. Some seventy percent of Quantar in Lythia sector follow the Parallax Path.
Human knowledge of the Skein remains limited enough that it is still uncertain whether the Predecessors of Lythia were related to Amananth in some way, or was in fact an earlier civilization even to them. Nonintrusive methods have been used in attempts to analyze and date the mysterious remains, and surface micrometeorite pitting and radiation analyses suggest the artifacts have been exposed to space for at least five thousand standard years. The possible technological value of the ruins remains a point of contention both among the Quantar Paths, and between Quantar and other nations. A serious diplomatic incident occurred on 91.2.16 when a Zelcane research team from the Solrain Commonwealth attempted forced entry into one of the pyramidal structures not far from Ring View Station. The researchers were expelled from Quantar space and Solrain craft were placed under interdict for one year and one day. Tempers have since cooled, but Zelcane and its subsidiaries continue to be denied permission to operate in Lythia sector.

Auraria sector has long been a favorite of Quantar miners because of its abundant asteroid fields, not to mention the amazing view of the stunning golden gas world from which the sector takes its name. A contemplative research institute has been established by the Quantar at Arashi Freehold to study the world and its moons, amid the activity of the otherwise busy port. Several factory complexes orbit in the port station's immediate vicinity, along with habitat and hydroponics facilities in free space and on nearby asteroids. Void Storm, one of the two prevalent Quantar Paths, considers the Arashi Freehold its home, and the station also hosts the headquarters of the venerable megacorporation Cromforge Amalgamated.

Orbiting the golden gas world of Auraria is Arashi Freehold, centre of the Void Storm Path and home to some twenty-five percent of the Quantar population. Many of the nearby asteroids have been mined out and converted to habitat facilities, and are thus considered outlying parts of the complex. Several industrial modules mingle with the artificial habitats near the port station, and the nearby hydroponics facilities are the most productive in Quantar space due to the friendly yellow light of the local sun.
Sequestered within these unassuming orbital facilities, the followers of the Void Storm Path maintain what could be considered Quantar's closest equivalent to a military academy. Contemplative research institutes focused on various subjects are fairly common among the advanced Quantar, but Void Storm's monastic schools are devoted to studies on the arts of war. Through a complex network of social and trade obligations, Void Storm shares the school with students of other Paths, providing centralized training in a decentralized nation. Graduates of the school are considered some of humanity's finest combat pilots. Their training includes not only modern technology, logistics, and sophisticated military tactics, but also ancient philosophies underlying and involving the practice of strategy. Beyond simply learning to employ weapons, graduates inherit a martial discipline handed down through longstanding Quantar tradition, as described in this quote from Quantar scripture many centuries old: "What weapon do I require? For I am the Lion. I am the weapon."
Arashi Freehold is also home to the headquarters office of Cromforge Amalgamated, one of the most important megacorporations in the Skein and a major competitor of both the Zelcane Trust and the munitions manufacturer Annihilitech. In addition to providing spacecraft hulls, manufactured goods, and specialized alloys to other industries, Cromforge has become the largest provider of energy weapons in known space.

A nominally Quantar sector increasingly contested by militant Hamalzah'din zealots, gates into the Pit of Lardonis open near a planetary body in the process of breaking up. Despite being considered ill-omened by some Quantar Paths, the Pit has been heavily mined in the past due to the richness of the available debris.
Over the past few decades, members of the Hamalzah'din Path have migrated into this sector and largely claimed it as their own territory, driving more moderate Quantar out of the area. Due to the high frequency of skirmishes between the Hamalzah'din and other Quantar Paths, the sector has been designated a dangerous red travel zone.
